Steve – Senior Instructor

Steve has been working in the outdoor industry for over 12 years and loves every minute of it.  Steve has experience working with a vast array of clients from all backgrounds and abilities.  His laid-back attitude makes him very approachable.  Highly experienced at delivering orienteering, low ropes, team building, raft building, caving, and many more activities.

Steve has the following qualifications:

  • Mountain Leader (summer) – MLTA
  • Single Pitch Award Climbing Instructor – MLTA
  • Level 2 Paddlesport Coach – British Canoe Union
  • Level 2 Mountain Bike Leader – British Cycling

Maddy – Instructor

Maddy is the Head Ranger for the Lulworth Estate and has worked here for over 20 years.  This working knowledge of the area makes her the ‘go to’ person for all questions relating to the estate and its ongoing commitment to managing and maintaining its huge degree of biodiversity. She set up the Education service here and loves getting children into an outdoor learning environment.

  • BSc Geographical Science, Diploma in Agronomy, FACTS.
  • Accredited Practitioner – Institute of Outdoor Learning

Kirsten – Instructor

Kirsten is Conservation and Access Ranger and is Maddy’s second in command. When this formidable duo are working together we challenge you to ask a question about the estate and its wildlife that they cannot answer.

Derry – Senior Instructor

Derry began his career in the outdoors whilst living back home in New Zealand, during which time he gained a vast amount of experience delivering a wide variety of activities from multiday sea kayak voyages through to alpine rock climbing trips.  Derry is passionate about outdoor education and the life changing opportunities it provides.

Derry

Jim – Instructor

Jim brings an in-depth knowledge of local wildlife, which he uses to promote care of habitat through enjoyable educational experiences.  Jim also works as an assistant coasteering instructor and has recently qualified as a mountain bike instructor.

Fay – Instructor

Fay ran her own business as a tree surgeon for a number of years and is very handy with a chainsaw. She works in the woods with small groups, green wood and sharp knives; she is also a keen axe wielder!

Fay’s qualifications:

  • BSc in Sociology and English Language

Alex – Instructor

Alex is a brilliant geologist with a canny knack of finding great fossils.  Before working with Experience Lulworth, she worked for a number of other outdoor education centres.  Alex tirelessly volunteers outside work with cubs and scouts, enabling them to have amazing outdoor experiences.
