Guided Walks

During the Summer holidays we offer a weekly series of guided walks running on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

These run from the 25th July until the 31st August.

Tuesday

Durdle Door Circular Family Stroll

Come and explore the surrounding Chalk Downland with the Ranger team.  Learn about Durdle Door, the Man O’ War dragon, ancient settlements, and the rare wildlife.

Meeting point: Durdle Door Caravan Park Reception

Time: 11:00 – 12:30

Price: Free to park residents, or £4 per adult and £2 per child.

Distance: 1.5 miles

Bring: Sturdy footwear

Wednesday

Mupe Bay Guided Walk

Visit the idyllic Mupe Bay on a Ranger led walk where you will pass the iconic Fossil Forest and get to see the traces of a Jurassic woodland from over 145 million years ago.  Returning via the beach or if you’d like an extra challenge you can follow the Ranger over Bindon Hill where you will not only cross the site of an Iron Age Hill Fort dating back to 400BC, but also experience the wildlife that Lulworth is famous for.

Meeting Point: Lulworth Visitor Centre

Time: 12:30 – 15:30.

Price: £5 per adult and £2.50 per child.

Distance: 2-3 miles

Thursday

(fortnightly starting 3rd August)

Wildlife Spotters

Join our highly experienced Ranger team on a  wildlife walk, looking at the incredible biodiversity that Lulworth has to offer. From butterflies and wildflowers through to migratory birds, you will be amazed at the colours, sounds and overall variety of co-dependant species. Learn about management of the area, underlying geology that determines our unique habitats, and see some very rare flora and fauna on an enthralling 1.5 hour walk around Bindon Hill.

Meeting point: Lulworth Visitor Centre

Time: 13:30 – 15:30

Price: £4 per adult and £2 per child

Distance: 2 miles

Bring: Sturdy footwear, water, camera and binoculars (if you have them).

The Lulworth Estate spans 20 square miles, covering various habitats, many of which are cited and legally protected.  Our experienced instructors provide guided walks throughout the year, taking in our rich biodiversity, local history and our World Heritage certified geology.  Whether you want a leisurely stroll for an hour around the Estate or a multi-day expedition in other parts of the UK, our instructors are happy to discuss and organise walks to your requirements.

Our expedition leaders are highly experienced hill walkers and mountaineers having covered most of the UK’s upland areas. They are also qualified Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Leaders should you be short for an upcoming event.

Cost for bespoke walks:

Our standard half day rate is £60 per guide and our full day rate is £120 per guide.  Guide to participant ratios are dependant on the activity being undertaken.
